9w 3d.

Getting a little freaked out about Balboa now. About 1 weeks ago I get a call to schedule my first OB appt/dating u/s. Their 1st such combo appt was June 5th - when I will be 11wk 1d.

Forward to yesterday. When I got home from my women's Bible study there was a message from someone at the Balboa OB clinic asking me to call her to schedule my first OB appt. I thought that was strange, but hubby said that maybe they had a cancellation and could get me in earlier. Hmmm possible. I thought it was odd that they were nonchallant about my first OB appt. being at 11weeks. So I call this morning and the lady is all friendly and tells me the first combo appt she has open is now June 15th. Wow! I was like....umm, so it is ok that I don't see an OB until I am technically out of my first trimester? Her answer? Well that is the first available appt. Well shucks - as long as it is convenient for YOU. I then asked her to check under my name as I think I already have my combo appt. scheduled. I was a tad worried - thinking the first woman who called me last week may have forgotten to actually book the appt she had offered me. Well the today's woman checks and yep my appt is on June 5th. Big sigh of relief for me.

I had heard horror stories like this before. A friend of mine who was 37 weeks got told to come back in 1 week. She went to make the appt. and was told, well we are completely booked and can't get you an appt. next week - the soonest we can get you in is on X date. And you know what? That date was AFTER her due date. What I don't get is if they are so overloaded - which it is clear they are; why do they insist that all military dependants that live within 50 miles MUST get their prenatal care there? I mean, they can't even keep up with the appts that need to be scheduled. Rrrrrr.
