Insulin shots here I come - I am sure of it. This morning my BS was a whopping 123. After a healthy GD breakfast it was 171!!!! The only thing different was a tablespoon of granola on top of my yogurt. It is turning out that if I eat ANY carbs what-so-ever my sugar levels fly through the roof. How can I go 13 more weeks with NO carbs at all??? I just want to cry. Maybe insulin won't be so bad. At least with that I can compensate if I eat a few carbs, and bring the sugars down. On the other hand...when my BS was 171 after breakfast I went for a 20 minute brisk walk (well as brisk as at 6.5 month pregnant woman can get). I actually walked a bit over a mile - and it wasn't all flat. However, upon returning and re-taking my BSL I found it has dropped over 60 points to a wonderful 110!!!! So, I guess upping the exercise is the key. Just to be safe, I did another 20 minute walk after dinner and my BSL was a good 115. While that seems to be working for now...how long can I conceivably get out and walk a brisk mile after every meal? Well we shall see what my OB thinks. I am supposed to call him after I have been doing this whole GD meal plan a week and tell him how things are going. However, I have yet to get a fasting BSL that is acceptable and my sugars seem to be getting worse by the day. I doubt he'll want me to wait until Oct. 2nd to come in.
